Jamming/improvisation is a musical conversation. By engaging in a real-time musical conversation, musicians develop the ability to anticipate and adapt to the musical ideas of their fellow musicians. This skill not only helps them become better ensemble players but also strengthens their capacity for improvisation.
TOM SAVAGE
Tom Savage is a singer-songwriter and professional musician who has spent over thirty years entertaining people and releasing independent records. He has toured across Canada and into the US multiple times as a solo artist, and with his band Tom Savage Trio, and now spends much of his time devoted to pushing musical boundaries with progressive blues rock band, Dead Root Revival.

A large portion of Savage’s career has also been dedicated to the use of music as a means of social connection; building community through his work as host of various open mics and jam sessions.
Tom currently hosts the TUNESDAY afternoon jam at the RCHA in Kingston, which has become a cultural phenomenon in the city, drawing near-capacity crowds every Tuesday afternoon.

JASON MERCER
Jason Mercer is a multi-instrumentalist, producer/engineer currently residing on Wolfe Island Ontario where he runs his personal studio, Neptune’s Machine.
Jason was a founding member of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir which saw success throughout Canada and the U.S.

He has been a member of Ron Sexsmith’s touring/recording band since 1996-current as well as a member of Ani Difranco’s touring/recording band 1997-2002.
He has also toured and recorded with acts such as Steven Page, the Barenaked Ladies, Rick Moranis, The Hot Sardines, Luther Wright and the Wrongs, Ana Egge, Oh Pep, the Abrams Brothers, Annie Keating, Matt Keating, the Gertrudes, The Ropes, Rocky Roberts and many others.
Jason is proficient in the studio both as a player and as an Engineer/Producer. He started his first studio in 1999 and has continued to thrive creatively in that area. Bands he has produced include, the Gertrudes, Gary Rasberry, The Lonesome Ace String-band, Luther Wright, the Mill-rights, Michael Jerome Brown, Matt Keating, Annie Keating, Ana Egge, Teilhard Frost, MC Duguay, Le Volume (Jenny Whiteley, Joey Wright, Julian Brown), Liam Cole, and many more.
